    I've had an Etsy shop for about 3 years now selling acrylic paintings and prints and notecards. I've had I think just 56 sales in that time, of those sales only one was a painting, one was an assortment of note cards and the rest were prints. About 50 of the sales were directed there by me. A couple came from people who know me and the other few were random. I've worked hard with keywords, seo etc to no avail. I'm confident in the quality.of my art but etsy is tough to get traction on. For me anyway

    I am glad I found your video . Thank you. I was about to varnish a painting I put on the wall on the balcony but not on full sun. I live near the sea . Do you think I do need to protect it against the dust and wind ? Is spraying better than brushing ? I have never used varnish on any of my painting . Thank you 🙏

    that's your fault. you should be getting their emails and putting them through an email sequence. plus in order to get your 40% off they should write their email on a coupon, then hand it to you. email is the most powerful tool for any business. you can tell people where you will be also

    • @KrystleColeArt
      @KrystleColeArt 19 часов назад

      people say email should be a powerful tool in their business, but the reality for an artist is that most times people don’t even open the emails. I have 5000 people on my email list and I can send out emails with 25% off coupons or buy one get one free, and not make a single sale. My open rates are like 20% , my click rate on links are 1%. If you take all that into consideration, the time it takes to get peoples emails at an art fair, then have maybe one out of 100 even click on the link in the email. You are just wasting your time and missing sales because you’re talking to people to get the email rather than talking to people to get sales.

    This is really good. Thank you! I'm just getting started with acrylics -- but it's model painting for games, not art. Although I'm not expecting these pieces to last 20 years, they get more travel than I'd expect a painting to do, so understanding how the paint ages and wears is important.

    I usually have to avoid events where the main entertainment is free and it's NOT the vendors. Younger people and parents buy my art, but for some reason it's more like when they're just being a family "in the wild" not because they're attending a "family" event. I don't really understand it. I also have a high sell rate if I say "let me know if you have any questions," to people who are browsing. That way I leave alone those who don't respond positively, and then chat up the ones who seem like they'd like some more interaction.

    The shadows around the ankle of the cat’s foremost paw are out of sync with the photo. The entire arm appears fat and out of proportion. Both paws look more like a catcher’s mit. You might want to look at that and possibly redo the right leg and both paws. The pillow doesn’t bother me so much.

    I see it all the time where artists will be at a street fair selling their art, but having it priced as if there were at a art show. A big note is pricing your art for the people at the event. If you don't want to drop y our prices, perhaps bring smaller pieces that you sell for less. But if you expecting to sell 4" x 6" art to a lot of people at a street fair $200 each you will be very disappointed.

      One good thing about the Canon printers is they have print heads that are user replaceable, although expensive, the pf-10 is the current printhead and it's about $725. But you can sometimes find it for less. With my Canon pro 4000, even if I have not printed in a month or so, when I turn it on and do a nozzle check it will do a short cleaning cycle and then all the nozzles will look perfect. Although I do believe the more recent Epson printers have gotten better with this.

    When you say "only" 10000 visitors....the events i have attended have had maybe 700 visitors and that felt like alot😂But i live in Sweden and i guess all things are bigger in the US where I guess you live😁😃

    • @MissShembre
      @MissShembre 2 дня назад

      10k visitors is still a lot. Those bigger numbers are for well-established annual events, festivals, or comic/anime conventions. You can do decent here even with 700 visitors. But it's going to be more like 'I'm paying a couple bills this month!" money (if the shows isn't a failure) vs. "I'm making so much bank!" income. I'm guessing it's more like "to her" it's not worth her time to do smaller shows, which is still valid.

    At one craft event, I was next to a "hawker".... he was yelling out for people to come to his booth to get some kind of a deal and the result? Some people skipped right by the booths on either side of him to go to his booth (not giving customers a chance to see our stuff), and other people hurried by our whole section so they could get away from him. No, the ink cartridges cannot be refilled. But the ink is fairly affordable when it comes to pigment based ink if you buy direct from Epson. You can buy large cartridges, which cuts the per print ink cost down.

    Showing for "exposure" is one of the biggest cons grifters use to make money off of artists without having to share the profits. One doesn't see accountants or lawyers being asked to work for "exposure." The other big con is gallerists who won't sign contracts, but expect to receive thousands of dollars worth of artwork based on only a handshake. As if they'd hand their own automobile to a stranger based on only a handshake! And, of course, rip-offs abound here, too. People can lose all sense of proportion and fairness when it comes to money. It's artist beware out there.

    I’ve been attending art fairs for over 50 years. Major Shows all over the county along with street fairs. You have to know your market. If you carry smaller items some of the venues you discuss may work. But I have attended shows where the first year was strictly Art and artists did very well. Only to later attend those same shows that took the “carnival “ route and fail miserably. People are out to play with their kids…not buy fine art. Most of my artist friends agree that when people do pay to get into a show the crowds are less but those people are serious about buying artwork. Besides in “ carnival “ shows most turn out to be more like flea markets… with a lot of imported goods passed off as genuine artwork. And if cheap then customers tend to lean towards that as purchases. And Never cheapen your artwork by putting up sale signs. That only makes people believe they can haggle over your prices. And not only hurts you but your fellow artists.

    • @MissShembre

      "those same shows that took the “carnival “ route and fail miserably. People are out to play with their kids…not buy fine art." I have the same exact issue. Some of my worst events have been because the vendors are just kinda there to fill space.

    You say in the video that you are looking for a new printer because you are having problems finding ink for your P800. Why would you recommend the P800 if there are issues getting ink? Wouldn’t the newer P900 be a better choice long term? Just wanting to understand your thought process.

    • @KrystleColeArt
      @KrystleColeArt 4 дня назад

      Did you not watch the end of my video? Because I did say pretty much exactly that, the P800 is a better machine, but the P900 would be the best of the two because of the fact that it’s newer and you can definitely get ink. that said, you can now get ink for the P800 and it really is a better machine. like I said in the video, they’re also risks with buying a used machine. A new one has a warranty from the manufacturer, which is clearly a benefit.

    • @wayneconard2685
      @wayneconard2685 4 дня назад

      Thank you. I did watch the entire video. The fact that you can get ink for the 800 makes it a better alternative. One more question since you’ve used both machines - does the updated technology on the 900 make a difference compared to the older generation technology on the 800? I’ve read the reviews for both on the website you recommended, Red River, but I can’t really tell how much difference the newer technology actually makes. Thanks again for responding. Very helpful.

  • @LDaemontus
    @LDaemontus 5 дней назад

    That advice about traffic flow/space in a booth is super important. I'm on the bigger scale hip + butt wise (and I don't think dieting/lifestyle will actually change that, just perhaps tone the muscles) and multiple booths will CRAM their goods onto rickety tables, where I'm elbow to elbow with my husband and the things they're selling, so I'm always trying to be mindful because I don't want to ruin anyone's prized works, but it often means most booths will be inaccessible and I can only look from the front, and likely won't come in to chat/ask/browse. This is also an issue with people who need walkers, walking sticks or wheelchairs. People with disabilities, or mobility issues, will not be coming to your booths, or even the events themselves, simply because organizers or booth owners tend to overlook making accommodations. There is no use in providing ramps if the building someone is trying to enter is packed elbow to elbow with crowds because multiple tables have been set up in a small space, so that's always a consideration people need to keep in mind.

    Aw. Man I didn't even THINK about bubbles. We actually sold bubbles at our booth. 😅 Fortunately it wasn't an art fair but a bigfoot festival, so hopefully no damage done. But it was my first booth anywhere so I have a lot to learn. It's nice you are putting up lists like this. Notes taken.

      It so nice of you to be thinking about other artists and vendors! If your bubbles were damaging anyone's art, you probably would've been asked to stop them by your booth neighbors. I've seen some vendors demonstrate bubble guns into a bucket so that they don't spread through the air as much. One idea anyway...

    How do these dry as a thick impasto texture? :) so a pile pile on after 24 hours, does it bend / droop? is it heavy? would it stand on a canvas or would it need a wooden base? Thanks so much!

      The dry well, I paint with this on canvases all the time. I paint it on vertically and it also dries that way, no drooping or dripping from gravity as it dries.

      Too bad more art fairs don’t play EDM on the stages 😁

      @@KrystleColeArt I wish! If they were to blast Technical Itch or GEIN, I'd be in Heaven. But, most people don't even know what EDM is, not here in America, anyway. It's more popular in Europe.
